Khalmnpr.exe is a process installed alongside Logitech Bluetooth mice and keyboards device drivers and software packages which allows for advanced configuration and diagnostics of their range of multimedia products.

This program is not an essential process for the running of Windows environment, but if already present on your computer that should mean that you are using a Logitech keyboard or mouse. It is not recommended to terminate the process unless suspected to be causing problems. This is because this process can help in the stability of your Logitech Bluetooth mouse operation. However there are ways to effectively disable it if one wishes to do so anyway.

Khalmnpr.exe is part of the Logitech SetPoint software that is installed with Logitech keyboard and mouse drivers. The process itself is not visible per se’ meaning that there is no GUI for the process, but since it is part of the SetPoint software, which obviously is visible and has a user interface, this process can be controlled indirectly through Set Point’s GUI.

Be aware that by killing this process, you will be unable to take advantage of the features that you configured in the SetPoint software. If you wish to PERMANENTLY get rid of the processes related to the SetPoint software and the associated features, you should uninstall SetPoint from its Uninstall option or else from Control Panel Add/Remove Software.

Its Default Location in Windows XP would be:

C:\Program Files\logitech\setpoint\drivers\win2k_xp\khalmnpr.exe

On other Operating systems it can be found also in C:\Program Files\Common folder

How to safely remove khalmnpr.exe

Process KHALMNPR is not associated with any known malware. This could be the case since malware writers try to target process which are always present on your system, such as default system processes and services such as svchost.exe, lsass.exe, etc.

  • Khalmnpr.exe uses 100% CPU time
    • This can be caused by an outdated version of SetPoint or an old Logitech driver. It is advised that you check for updates for your all your drivers not just Setpoint, because drivers should be kept up-to-date.
    • If everything is up-to-date, try reinstalling your Logitech drivers and SetPoint software.
    • If the problem persists, you can uninstall the SetPoint software from Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs.
  • SetPoint crashes frequently
    • Try reinstalling your Logitech drivers and SetPoint.
    • If the problem persists, you can uninstall the SetPoint software with no ill effects.
