Teatimer.exe Memory Usage

T Add comments

As an executable program, it tracks and destroys malicious spyware as part of Spybot’s suite of programs, Spybot S&D Spyware Remover. The manufacturer of this program is Safer Networking Ltd. This tracking and destroying of malware happens in real time, and as such, it runs in the background whenever a computer is running.

It is important for the secure and stable operation of one’s computer, and should not be deleted. Internet settings, CPU, and memory should be taken through frequent performance scans to maintain their optimization. The common path for this program is %programfiles%\Spybot - Search & Destroy\TeaTimer.exe

Typically, teatimer.exe is located in C:\Program Files subfolder, or at times in the subfolder headed C:\Documents and Settings. The icon for this process is near the clock on the taskbar, and also possesses a visible window. This file is designated as not a core file of Windows, and the file is Verisign signed. As a file that is digitally signed, teatimer.exe monitors applications and records inputs.

It is known to consume a large amount of memory in some computers, therefore inhibiting the user’s ability to store important files. Another complaint by users is the under performing of vital software because this program deems them as trying to alter the registry, when in fact such a change is important to the overall function of the software, and the computer. The lack of technical know-how at the end user stage is also of concern as regards this process.

Some malware disguise themselves to look as teatimer.exe, particularly when their locations are c:\windows\system32 or c:\windows folders. Computer security should be verified using reliable malware defenses. Many popup, adware, or spyware change names or locations of existing programs to different folders within a computer, to better mask them. Make sure teatimer.exe is in its default file folders. Checking one’s tasklist also gives one a view into what programs are running at any given time. Dll files do not show up on computer tasklists, as they are a part of other separate processes.

The applet Add\Remove programs on the control panel can be accessed if one wishes to remove the Spybot S&D application, although this is highly not recommended. On Windows XP, the file sizes for teatimer.exe are 1415824 bytes. Teatimer.exe also raises red flags if a program tries to re-configure one’s Windows registry, other then the main user, or owner.

Therefore, teatimer.exe is not spyware, and is not considered popup or adware related. It is not considered a Trojan or a virus either.
