WMI allows scripting languages like VBScript to manage Microsoft Windows PCs and server systems, both locally and remotely. WMI is preinstalled in Windows 2000 and newer Operating Systems. Microsoft also provides a command line interface to manage WMI interface.

This process task called Unsecapp.exe is started by Windows when a program needs to use WMI programming. What is does is that it provides programs with a conduit or sink/channel to receive the results of their WMI queries and commands from Windows.

The sink’s job is to receive asynchronous callbacks for WMI client application running in different processes. WMI enables software developers to write scripts and programs for the management or querying of devices, user accounts, Windows services, running programs, networking, and many other internal technical aspects of Windows.
