The YPager.exe which stands for Yahoo Page is a process which corresponds to the instant messenger client Yahoo Messenger. It is an application which can be safely terminated since it is not needed for the continued operation of the Operating System.

The process may appear listed in Task manager under Windows. It is not a security risk by itself as it is the main executable used by the Yahoo Messenger program which is one of the most popular Instant Messanging chat services available on the Internet.

YPager.exe or mainly the Yahoo IM was developed by Yahoo! Inc. as the name suggests. The file is called Yahoo! Messenger and its legal copyright is from 1998 up to 2008.
Even if you press the X button on the top right corner of your Yahoo! IM Window, the YPager.exe process may still be up and running. The reason for this is that it usually stays in the System Tray and will only display visible actions if instant messages or e-mail are received.

Apart from this, you should be aware that these types of programs do have security issues, due to their capability of send and receiving files from other people with absolute ease. Security risks are pretty much caused by the people themselves because sometimes they accept/download and run files on their computer with unknown file extensions or exe files which may have spyware, virus and other malware applications joined to them.
